Program
Description
The program can be used very flexibly for either primary presentation
of information, for revision prior to examinations or as the basis of
a workshop or tutorial. It is up to the tutor to set suitable objectives
but having worked through the program a student should have knowledge
and understanding of:
- the
physiology and biochemistry of platelets, coagulation and fibrinolysis
- the
integration of platelet function, coagulation and fibrinolysis into
haemostasis
- the
clinical pharmacology and the laboratory monitoring of the three components
contributing to haemostasis
The package
consists of three modules; Platelets, Coagulation and Fibrinolysis. Each
module covers the physiology, biochemistry, clinical pharmacology and
therapeutics of the appropriate cell or system. There are several routes
through the teaching material giving more or less information about particular
topics. Self-assessment questions are provided at the end of each module
so students can assess their success. The amount of time taken to go through
the material will depend on the depth to which it is studied but might
typically involve 2 hours work.
